Ethel Graham

Ethel Helen Moes Graham, age 98, of Hudson and formerly of Fond du Lac, died peacefully Saturday October 30, 2010 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.

Ethel was born on November 5, 1912 in Oshkosh, WI; the daughter of Edward and Meta (Gunz) Moes. She was married to Orin Graham to which children Gail, Mary, Robert, and James were born. Orin owned and operated a tool and die company while Ethel was a devoted stay home mom. Her family meant the world to her and she cherished her children.

Later, she worked many years as manager of St. Agnes Hospital’s gift Shop in Fond du Lac. Ethel thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and making ceramic dolls. She was also known to cheer on the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. Ethel had a green thumb and could grow most anything; especially her favorite African Violets. She also enjoyed feeding and taking care of the neighborhood birds and squirrels. One of her most rewarding challenges in life was helping raise and tend to her granddaughter Shannon who is severely handicapped. Ethel was raised during the Great Depression and was known by all for her caring and giving nature.

She will remain in the hearts of her children: Mary (Ira) Funderburk, Robert Orin Graham, and James (Donna) Graham; son-in-law, Sam Lovelady; grandchildren: Amy Funderburk, Mark Buschmann, Shannon Buschmann, Shawn Graham, Kelly Carmona, William Graham, Thomas Faber, Julie Faber, and Kathy Wellen; 20 great-grandchildren; great nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Donovan, Julie Dorn, Ann Hounsel, and Lisa Stanchfield; and extended family She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gibb and Cliff Moes; her daughter Gail Lovelady; former husband, Orin; niece Barbara Donovan and nephew, Gerald Donovan.

A Celebration of Ethel’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 5th (her 98th birthday) at Pilgrim Uunited Church of Christ, 535 Stow Street, in Fond du Lac. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. She will be laid to rest in the German Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery of Oshkosh. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home & Countryside Crematory, 715-386-3725.
