Eugene Jacob Theis

Eugene J. Theis, age 88, of Ellsworth, WI, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN.Eugene was born in the town of Ellsworth, Pierce County, Wisconsin, on July 11, 1925 to Martha (Schultz) and August Theis. He married Rose Raechke on June 7, 1952. Eugene farmed on the family farm in Ellsworth until 1962. He then moved with Rose to the village of Ellsworth where they owned and operated Gene and Rosie’s Bar until their retirement in 1990. During Gene’s working life he also worked in construction and excavating. In his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking, making many lawn ornaments and windmills.Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, Jerome and sister Delores Haupt.Gene is survived by his wife Rose;Daughter: Peggy (Roger) Nelson. Grandchildren: Angie (Danny Bjork) Nelson; Andy (Heather) Nelson. Great-grandchildren: Cade Bjork and Noa Nelson, all of Ellsworth.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, WI is assisting the family with the arrangements.
