Eugene “Gene” Arnold Meier, age 90, passed away at his home on January 26, 2020. He was born on March 9, 1929 in Prescott, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae McClellan on May 16, 1950. They raised five children on the Meier farm. Gene was a maintenance mechanic at St. Paul Ammonia, which later became N-Ren; he was a union steward for many years. In 1972, he co-founded Joy Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed creating beautiful stained glass pieces and tending his gardens and trees. Gene enjoyed spending time with the people he loved and was a devout family man.

He is preceded in death by his father Alfred Herman and mother Caroline Bertha Ida (Kuss); his brothers, Stan and Harvey; his sister, Elaine; and infant grandchild, Jason. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; and their children, Tim (Anne), Jim (Toni), John (Jenny), Teresa (Tom), and Joel (Mary Jo); 14 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Services honoring the life of Eugene Meier will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 8th, at the Joy Lutheran Church, 1435 St. Croix Street in Prescott, Wisconsin, with Pastor Steve Meyer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church, and also from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, February 7th, at Joy Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to Joy Lutheran Church, or to the discretion of the family.
