Eugene Terpstra was born September 29th, 1935 in Mora, MN to parents, William and Jenny Terpstra.  He was raised on a dairy farm in Olgivie, MN.  Eugene met his future bride, Olive TeGrootenhuis, at the Young People’s Society at the Baldwin Christian Reformed Church.  They were married on June 10, 1955 and their union was blessed with 7 children.  Eugene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all of his family.

Before settling down in the Baldwin area, Eugene worked as a butcher at the St. Paul Stockyard, Norlake, and as a farmhand in New Richmond.  He purchased “Happy Acres” in Baldwin in 1963 and started farming.  During this time Eugene worked at Meyer Implement as a foreman and mechanic for 17 ½ years.  In 1980 he left Meyer Implement to take on farming full time.  He was known as the expert at fixing small square balers throughout Western Wisconsin. 

His passion was farming but he enjoyed many hobbies and interests.   He had the creativity to make useful items out of anything and was an accomplished welder with people relying on him to repair machinery. He loved his Packers (GO PACKERS) as well as being an avid deer hunter and fisherman.  You could find him out in the woods cutting firewood and tinkering in his shop.   He valued time with the grandkids whether on the tractor or combine.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jenny; brothers, Peter and Stanley; daughter, Barbara; daughter-in-law, Delores; and great grandson, Ethan.  Eugene will remain in the hearts of his wife, Olive; his children; Bob Terpstra (Janan), Carol Kirchman (Kris), Karen Wevers (Brad), Darryl Terpstra (Julie), Barry Terpstra (Dawn), and Kevin Terpstra (Wendy); his 19 grandchildren and his 20 great-grandchildren. brothers and sisters; Alice, Hermina, Bud (Vonda), Rosie, Joann (Hank) and John.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Christian Reformed Church of Baldwin, WI. Visitation for Eugene will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI, as well as one hour prior to the Funeral Service.
