Floyd John Olson, age 95, of Ellsworth, WI formerly of Maiden Rock, WI died on May 29, 2017 at Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth where he has resided the last 10 months.
He was born October 28, 1921 at home in the town of Salem, the son of Edwin and Mable (Peterson) Olson. He attended the Foley School. After 8th grade he farmed with his father until he was twenty years old. He then went to farm for Hans & Merle Hager. On April 2, 1949 he married Gladys Nordgard, their niece who also lived on this farm, at the Salem Lutheran Church. They farmed until 1997, they continued to live on the farm. Gladys died in 2004 and Floyd moved to Ellsworth in 2011.
They were members of the Salem Lutheran Church until it’s closing in 1970 and then became members of Eidsvold Lutheran Church, Bay City, WI.
He enjoyed fishing when time allowed. Floyd is known for his love of his farm which has been in his wife’s family for 120 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife Gladys having been married for 55 years; his parents, Edwin & Mabel Olson; siblings, Howard (Jean) Olson, Leonard (Wanda) Olson, Dorothy (Glenn) Johnson, Harold Olson, Maynard Olson, James Olson; 2 nephews & 1 niece.
Floyd is survived by his siblings, Clinton (Dorothea) Olson, May (Stan) Ramberg, Margaret (Glen) Dankers; sister-in-law, Carol Olson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Floyd will be 11:00 am Friday, June 2, 2017 at Eidsvold Lutheran Church, Bay City, WI, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Salem Township.
