Fred was born on September 4, 1946 to Howard and Dorothy (Gifford) Greenfield in River Falls, Wisconsin. He grew up and worked on the family farm and graduated from St. Croix Central High School in 1965. Fred stayed on with the family farm until around 1986 when he took a job at Polfus Implement (now Frontier Ag Turf) and worked as a trucker and a lot manager. Fred had many passions in life, but all involved spending time in the great outdoors. Fred was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He also enjoyed riding four-wheeler & snowmobiles. One could also find Fred cheering on his grandchildren at the local pedal tractor pulling contests. What made all of these activities the best was that he could do them with his friends and family. It was the time spent with them that made everything else really special.
