Galen Otto Neubarth, age 64 of North Hudson, passed away March 18, 2017.  Galen was born July 12, 1952 in New Richmond, the son of Otto and Violet (Johnson) Neubarth.  He graduated from Hudson High School, the Class of 1970.  After high school, Galen furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls.  He was united in marriage to his best friend and soul mate, Cynthia Sue Calhoun. Together, they shared 34 wonderful years together, until her death in May of 2013.  Galen worked as an insurance agent, owning and operating First Choice Insurance Agency.  

Galen was a devoted husband, and cherished the sweet memories of his wife Cindy.  Together they enjoyed traveling.  When Galen’s love of his life passed away, his heart truly never mended.  He was a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan, who loved cheering on his favorite team.  He had a gracious heart for animals, especially his beloved cats.  

He is survived by his brother, Dennis (Diana) Neubarth of Hudson; brother-in-law, Steven (Jeanne) Calhoun of Black River Falls; mother-in-law, E. Lorraine Calhoun of Black River Falls; nieces and nephews, Robert (Tricia) Neubarth of Somerset, Cassie (David) Rider of Hudson, Contessa and Cody Calhoun of Black River Falls; great nieces and nephews:  Presley, Robert Jr. “Robbie,” Hunter, Easton, Dayton, Nicholas, McKenna, Sage and Diana.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; and his parents.  

A Memorial Gathering will take place 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2017, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson.  Private interment will take place.  Memorials are preferred to the family or St. Croix Animal Friends.
