Gary R. Lindahl

Gary Richard Lindahl passed away on September 1 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Madge Lindahl, and sister Pam Lucio.  Survived by his beloved wife and best friend Kathy; loving children Shelly (Dennis) Doerr, Gary (Betty) Lindahl and Rebecca (Bob) Wolfe; grandchildren Erik (Laura) Doerr, Hailey Doerr, Allyce Lindahl, Lauren Lindahl, Bobby (Sheena) Wolfe and Samantha Wolfe; great grandchildren Ray and Sydney; sister Marcia (Mike) Crawford.  He is also survived by a caring circle of extended family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all.

Born on June 1, 1943 in St. Paul, MN, Gary grew up in the Midway Area of St. Paul and attended St. Paul Central High School.  He met Kathy on a blind date, married in 1963 and raised their children in Lake St. Croix Beach, MN.  They enjoyed spending time at their cabin on the Flambeau River in Ladysmith, WI and moved there full-time after retirement.  They really loved just being together and enjoying the company of each other.

Gary worked in the foundry at American Hoist, was a terminal manager at Brown Transport and an assembly worker at Andersen Windows before venturing off on his own to become a highly sought after tile setter.  Gary devoted his life to family, friends and mischief (but not necessarily in that order).  In retirement, he enjoyed puttering in his work shop (seriously, he could build or fix anything!), garage sales, boat rides on the Flambeau River and simply enjoying life.

Memorial service will be held 12:00 P.M., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at O’Connell Family Funeral Homes, 520 S 11th Street, Hudson, WI with a gathering of family and friends starting at 11 A.M.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to FamilyMeans of Stillwater, MN or Women with Courage Foundation of Ladysmith, WI.
