Gene Nyseth

Gene Lee Nyseth, age 70 of Hudson, lost his battle with lung cancer on November 6th, 2015.  He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  Gene was born to Ted and Olga (Knudtson) Nyseth at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on October 29th, 1945.  Gene grew up in Altoona and joined the US Army in 1962, where he served as a tank mechanic until 1965.  He married Vicky Wenaas on June 27th, 1964 and just celebrated 51 years of marriage.  After returning from the Army, Gene worked at Gould National Battery in Eau Claire before taking a position at National Presto, where he worked for 13 years.  In 1979, he moved his family to Hudson, Wisconsin when he took a position as a Millwright at 3M.  Gene worked for 3M for 28 years.  Gene loved life and worked hard.  He loved woodworking and built the home they lived in for the past 35 years.  Gene enjoyed shooting trap, golfing, antiques, fishing, trips to Alaska and camping on Nob Hill.   He also had a passion for geneology and has an extensive family tree, which he has worked on for years. 

Gene is survived by his wife, Vicky; children, Nick of New Richmond, Gina (David) Beaver of Somerset, Jesse (Maci) of New Richmond;  Brother Roger of Eau Claire;  Brother-in-law, Craig (Diane) Wenaas of Eau Claire; Sisters-in-law, Denise Sinz (Dan Arens) of Eau Claire; Jennifer Begley of Hudson, Verona Nyseth of Altoona and Sandy Nyseth of Altoona.  Gene is Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Everett (Carol), Tom, James (Billy) and David;  Sister, Oma (Wynn) Virgin; Sister-in-law, Joan Nyseth; parents-in-law, Gilbert and Irene Wenaas; Nephews, Randy, Andy and Bob Nyseth, Gary Nordlie and Niece, Kristine Weiner. 

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers that helped us along the way; Lakeview Hospice, Hudson Hospital Infusion Center and the Doctors and Nurses at Regions Hospital .  

A celebration of life will be held at O’Connell Family Funeral Home; 520 So. 11th Street in Hudson, WI on Saturday, November 14th from Noon to 4pm. Interment will be private. Memorials are preferred.
