Georgia Mae Hoberg age 93 of River Falls, died peacefully December 15, 2023 at the Wellhaven Senior Living in River Falls. Georgia was born on August 20, 1930 in Underwood, North Dakota where she received her education. She furthered her schooling at the Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her degree as a registered nurse.
On September 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dr. Glenn ‘Doc’ Hoberg. They recently celebrated seventy-two years of marriage and welcomed four children into this world; Mark, Glynn Laurel, Nora, and Gordon. They have spent their entire married life in River Falls.
Georgia thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker; both at their home and in the community for the Homemaker’s Club. She was very active within the Pierce County Extension Homemaker’s Club where she held many offices; including NW District Chairman, State President 1977-79, and one of two Wisconsin interviewers for the National Extension Homemaker’s oral history undertaking. They proudly helped print two publications: “Taste Wisconsin history” a cookbook reader and “The Impact of Her Spirit” covering women’s lives and membership in WEHC. In 1990, Wisconsin (WEHC) hosted the National Conference, which displayed memorabilia, held lessons, and performed a show with music and drama. Overall, Georgia attended twelve national conferences. She also enjoyed writing both family history and poetry, gardening and listening to music. She was a faithful member of the Luther Memorial Church in River Falls.
Georgia is survived by her husband ‘Doc’ Hoberg; children Mark (Cindee) Hoberg, Laurel Hoberg, Nora (John) Bennett, Gordon (Janet Takayama) Hoberg; grandchildren Laura, Michael (Lindsay), Zach, Mark (Anna), Micha, Evan (Bella), Lucy, and great grandchild Ace. Her sister Irene Kelley also survives her. Her brother-in-law Keith Kelly precedes her in death.
A Memorial service is being planned for a future date at the Luther Memorial Church in River Falls. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery. Cremation and Celebration of Life services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of River Falls.
