Gerald Bjornson

Gerald A. “Gramma” Bjornson, age 75 of Ellsworth, WI, passed away February 9, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Gerald was born July 16, 1945 in El Paso Township, WI to Howard and Ruth (O’Connell) Bjornson.  He graduated from Ellsworth High School. Gerald’s life was blessed with two sons, Jody and Jason.  Gerald worked for the Ford Motor Company for 30+ years, until his retirement.

Gramma was very social and delighted in the company of others.  After retiring, he enjoyed tending bar at the Eastender for many years.  Most important was his family and friends.  He treasured his time with his sons, friends and road trips with his sisters to the cabin, Missouri, Branson and Nashville.  Gramma was an avid golfer and a devoted Green Bay Packers fan.  He also took time for the simple joys in life, sitting on his front steps watching people go by and traveling country roads.

Gerald will remain in the hearts of his sons, Jody (Debbie Frandrup) Bjornson and Jason (Ryan Peterson) Bjornson; granddaughter, Allie Bjornson; sister, Deanna Bjornstad; sisters-in-law, Elaine Bjornson and Jan Malmer; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ruth Bjornson; siblings, Francis Bjornson, Colleen Prine and Richard Bjornson; and brothers-in-law, Orin Bjornstad and Danny Prine.

A Memorial Gathering will take place 4:00 – 6:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2021 at O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home, 130 N Grant St., Ellsworth, WI.    A future celebration of life is also being planned in El Paso.  Interment will also take place at a later date at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in El Paso, WI.
