Gerald ‘Jerry’ Schlief

Gerald W. Schlief, known to most as Jerry, passed away on November 22, 2016. Jerry was born on Friday the 13th  January, 1928 in Spooner, WI; his parents were Hope & William Schlief. The family moved to North Hudson in 1940, when the railroad transferred Mr. Schlief. Jerry entered the 8th grade at the old North Hudson school. He attended Hudson High School until his junior year at which time he enlisted in the Navy with several friends. He served in the South Pacific during the late stages of the war. After the war, he returned to high school and graduated in 1947. He later attended several technical and business schools. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard for 5 1⁄2 years where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. His life’s work covered many different areas. He was involved in several business ventures in the Hudson area.

In 1961, he was married to DeLores Foss in Phoenix, Arizona. Their family consisted of two daughters, the late Anita McDaniel and Carolyn (Warren) Trampush and a son, Thomas.

Jerry had a lifelong interest in boating, music, sports, travel and the American West. He was very proud of his country, family and his friends. He is survived by children Carolyn and Tom, granddaughters Lainy Trampush, Leighanne and Melissa McDaniel and grandson Dane Trampush.

Proceeding in his death were his wife, DeLores (Foss) on June 15, 2003, daughter Anita on February 11, 2013 and granddaughter Mara Schlief-Trampush on August 28, 2013.

Jerry’s life will remembered at 4pm, Saturday, December 10th with a time for family and friends to gather from 2pm to 4pm before the service at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment will be private. Full military honors will be provided to pay tribute to Jerry’s service in the Navy. Memorials are preferred.
