Gerald Lunzer

Gerald “Jerry” Lunzer, age 85 of Hammond WI, died on Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint Paul MN. Jerry was born September 16, 1929 in Forest Lake MN to parents Martin and Frances (Schmidt) Lunzer. After high school, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force. Not long after being discharged, Jerry would be united in marriage to Marie McKeen on July 2, 1953 in Georgia. Their marriage would be blessed with five children, and a little over 61 years of love and devotion to each other.

Jerry worked for many years as a milk truck driver, and later as a machine operator for Land O’ Lakes. He also worked as a baker. Outside of work, Jerry was a family man, and was always concerned for his loved ones. Jerry was a good-hearted man who loved to laugh. He also loved to cook and bake, and his family always enjoyed having him fix his soup or cookies. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and trying his luck at casino games and the lottery. He adored his grandchildren, and time spent babysitting his great-grandchildren. Jerry displayed his artistic talents through drawings and paintings, and musical talents through playing organ, banjo, guitar, and harmonica. Jerry brought love and laughter to the lives of many, and he will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

Jerry is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Marie; his children, Patty (Glen) Wernlund, Barry (Mary Jo) Lunzer, and Cynthia Lunzer; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Eva LaMotte; his brother, Leo (Cathy) Lunzer; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
