Gerald Myers

Gerald William “Jerry” Myers, age 78 of Prescott, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on March 10, 2021.  Gerald was born October 30, 1942 in Wichita, KS to William and Naomi (Hummer) Myers.  He attended Troy Rural High School, and graduated from Midway High School in Denton, KS, with the Class of 1960.  Jerry served his country in the United States Army – proudly serving as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, for 2 tours in Vietnam.   On August 7, 1964, Jerry was united in marriage to Susan Louise Beeler in Loretta, MN.  Their lives were blessed with a daughter, Stacy.     Jerry worked as a river tow boat deckhand, mate and engineer, advancing to captain after 7 years, until his retirement in 1987.  Jerry was earlier baptized, then confirmed, and became a member of St Ambrose Catholic Church in 2021.

Jerry had an affinity for old cars, fast cars, street rods, muscle cars and tractors.  Chevelles, Dodges, Chryslers, and Farmall tractors especially caught his eye.  Like many car guys, some of his fondest memories included old cars, hours spent in the garage working on them, and of course the joy of getting behind the wheel and taking them out on the road and to car shows. In the past few years, in his quiet time, Jerry delighted in writing music that would tell a story.

Jerry will remain in the heart of his daughter, Stacy Myers; daughter-at-heart, Dawn Radabaugh; brothers Wayne Myers and Lewis (Pat) Myers of Denton, KS; sister, Sylvia (Leonard) Thompson of Denton, KS; beloved nieces and nephews, Angie, Melissa, Amanda, Bridget, Eric, Kevin and Alex; along with many dear great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Dr., Woodbury, MN.  Interment will take place at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott.

Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home in Prescott, WI (715) 262-5404.  www.oconnellfuneralservices.com
