Geraldine “Gerry” Wahlberg – Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend “90”, of Mesa, AZ and Hudson, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018. She is survived by her three children, Greg (Melody), Gwen (Dan) Christensen, and Glenn (Kris); six grandchildren (Jon, Jason, Heather, Ryan, Nick, and Ashley) and seven great grandchildren (Wyatt, Maddox, Stella, Calvin, Vayda, Gianni, and Vincenzo). Her husband Bernal “Gus” Wahlberg preceded her in death in 2013.  They were married for 64 years and enjoyed many years of travel and new adventures.

Gerry was born June 13, 1928 in Grundy County, Iowa to Gertie and Graham Rolston and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1945.   She met and then married Bernal “Gus” Wahlberg in Green Mountain, Iowa on December 16, 1949.  The two later moved to Southwestern MN and then settled in Hudson, WI in 1957. After many winters of traveling in their motor home across most of the United States, they settled for winters in Mesa, AZ where Gerry moved full time in 2013.

Gerry worked for Mr. Tax and then as a seasonal tax auditor at the State of Minnesota.  She and her colleagues were influential is securing benefits for seasonal employees and was present in the governor’s office when this change was signed.

Recently, Gerry enjoyed her friends at Fountain of the Sun and especially loved gathering for bridge games up at the card room.  She loved the social activities in the park and was always willing to sub for a bridge game when a spot was open. 

Gerry will be remembered for her love of family, as a competitive card game enthusiast, and her openness to always take the road less traveled just to see what might be around the corner. 

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at O’Connell Funeral Home 520 11thStreet South in Hudson, WI on Sunday, June 30th. Visitation 12:30-1:30 pm.  Service at 1:30 pm.  Please come by to share your Gerry stories with her family and friends.
