Gladys Chapel, age 83 of River Falls WI, died on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Christian Community Home, surrounded by her family. Gladys was born June 8, 1927 in Minneapolis MN to parents Frank and Ella (Dahlberg) Olson. Gladys was a graduate of Vocational High School.  Gladys was united in marriage to Floyd Eugene Chapel on June 25, 1948 in Minneapolis MN. To this union in marriage, six children would be born.

Gladys worked as a seamstress for the B.W. Harris Company, Sandford Inc., and a few other companies as well. Even in her free time, Gladys enjoyed sewing, as well as jigsaw puzzles, and watching TV, with the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie being a couple of her favorites. Gladys was a dedicated Packers fan who was known to cook up some great meals, and drop a line for some fishing as well. As a young girl, she enjoyed trips with her family to Lake George. She leaves three generations of her family with fond memories.

Gladys is survived by her children, Ron (Cindy) Chapel of St. Paul MN, Sue (Dave) DiBenedetto of Watertown MN, Georgia (Duane) Eggen of Woodville WI, Kathy Jenkins  of Stillwater MN, Frank Chapel of River Falls WI, and Floyd Chapel Jr. of River Falls WI; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Todd, and Caroline (Roger) McHugh; brother, Walt Olson; brother-in-law, Harold Chapel; sister-in-law, Dorrie Chapel; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Chapel; her parents, Frank and Ella Olson; and brothers-in-law Earl Chapel, Vernon Chapel, and Don Todd.

Funeral Services for Gladys Chapel will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 25th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 South 11th Street in Hudson. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Gladys will be laid to rest with her husband Floyd at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis MN.
