Gladys Pederson, age 95, of Baldwin, WI, died Thursday, June 28, 2007 in Baldwin, WI. Gladys was born May 19, 1912 in the Pleasant Valley Township to parents Ole & Bertha Marie (Limberg) Ylvisaker. The oldest of seven children, Gladys worked on the family farm plowing the fields, collecting eggs, & milking cows. While growing up, she attended Palmer Country School in Rush River & the Baldwin High School. After graduating in 1931, Gladys attended Normal College of River Falls, WI where she received her teaching degree. Upon receiving her degree, she began work as a rural schoolteacher. She taught for two years at Centerville, WI, six years in Stockholm, WI, & two years in Deer Park, WI. While teaching, Gladys met a man by the name of Berger Pederson. After many years of dating, Gladys married Berger on April 27, 1945, & the two settled down on a farm southwest of Baldwin. The two were together for 45 years until Berger’s death in 1991. Gladys had many hobbies & activities. She was very involved in her local 4-H & homemakers club; & even though she retired from formal teaching, she continued to teach Sunday School at Peace Lutheran Church for 60 years. Along with Sunday School, Gladys was active with the church choir for 25 years, as well as the Ladies Aide, Church Council, & Church Circles. Other activities Gladys took part in included photography, rose mauling, & writing. Even up until her death she submitted weekly articles for the Baldwin Bulletin. She was a lover of animals, & spoke fondly of her dog, Tippy.

Gladys is survived by; sister, Ruby Ylvisaker of Baldwin; sister-in-law, Frieda Ylvisker of River Falls, WI; niece, Sharon Griffin of Baldwin & her sons, Ryan & Sean; nephew; Danny Peterson & his daughter, Stephanie, & son, Christopher. Gladys was preceded in death by; her husband, Berger Pederson; her parents, Ole & Bertha Marie (Limberg) Ylvisker; sisters, Harriet Griffin, Marion Peterson, & Bernice Ylvisker; brother, Orin Ylvisker; niece, Okcha Peterson; & nephew, Dick Griffin. Gladys will be dearly missed by her family & friends.

Funeral Service for Gladys Pederson will be 11:00 A.M, Monday July 2, 2007 at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin, WI. Burial will be in the Woodside Cemetery in Baldwin, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
