Gordon “Roy” Dahlman

Gordon “Roy” Dahlman, age 93, of Hudson, WI, died on the afternoon of February 3, 2015 at his home in Red Cedar Canyon in Hudson.

Roy was born on March 2, 1921 to George and Rena (Moen) Dahlman in Eau Galle, Wisconsin. Their marriage later dissolved, and Rena remarried Arnold Carlson, who along with Rena, raised their family. He grew up in Woodville, Wisconsin and graduated from Woodville High School. 

Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. When he returned, he was united in marriage to Norma Gunderson on September 14, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville, WI. Their marriage would be blessed with four children: Danny, Cindy, Brad, and Wendy. Roy and his family settled in Hudson. 

He spent most of his time as a Meat Cutter in St. Paul, MN, and upon his retirement, enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends close by. 

Roy enjoyed traveling with his family, taking trips to Yellowstone and Florida. He also was a talented woodworker and had a passion for fixing cars. 

Roy is survived by his children: Cindy (Jim) Pyle of Lake Holcombe, WI, Brad (Karin) Dahlman of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Wendy (Mark) Stahnke of Hudson, WI; grandchildren: Mike (Tracy) Pyle, Amanda (Dan) Lehman, Dan (Jody) Dahlman, Lucas (Emma) Dahlman, Justin (Amber) Dahlman, Kali Dahlman, Sam Dahlman, Brielle (Kyle) Anfinson, and Brandon (Rachael) Stahnke; great-grandchildren: Jake, Kylie, River, Max, Ian, Levi, Liam, Adrian, Austin, and one girl on the way; brother, Kent Carlson; and many other relatives and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma; son, Danny; parents, Rena and Arnold Carlson; biological father, George Dahlman; and brother, Milo Carlson. 

A Funeral Celebration of Life for Roy will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson.  A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment at Lone Pine Cemetery in Woodville, WI. Memorials preferred.
