Grace Solum, age 78 of Elmwood, formerly of Woodville, died peacefully Friday September 8, 2017 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home. Grace was born on August 29, 1939 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin; the daughter of Ralph and Olga Titel. She was raised in Clear Lake where she graduated from high school.

In 1958, she was married to Wilfred Praschak. To this union, children Maureen, Steve, Mona, and Brian were born. This union would later dissolve.

Grace worked in dietary as a cook for area nursing homes her entire working career. She loved her jobs at Parkview Nursing Home and later Baldwin Care Center. She enjoying cooking and working with the elderly. In 1976, she married Carl Solum. The couple made their home in Woodville before Carl passed away in 2000.

Grace enjoyed crocheting and working with ceramics. Some will remember her business ‘Amazing Grace Ceramics. She had great memories of her travels with her Aunt Bev. Most of all, she was a devoted caregiver whether to family or when she worked with Comfort Keepers.

Grace is survived by her children, Maureen (Mark) Wilber of Menomonie, Steve (Janet) Praschak of Star Prairie, Mona (Bradford) Johnson of Clear Water, MN, Brian (Stephanie) Praschak of Minong, WI; grandchildren, Aaron (Alyssa) Praschak, Alex (Kelly) Praschak, Joshua Johnson; step-grandchildren, Kayla and Michael Brodi, Stacey, Sarah and Shannon Wilber; great grandchildren, Ella, Kelton and Jamie; 3 step-great grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Helen) Titel, Louie Titel, and Larry Titel. Grace is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl, and 6 siblings.

Memorial service for Grace Solum will be 11AM Friday, September 15th at the Willow River United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church Friday morning. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
