Grant E. Leonard

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Grant E. Leonard, age 28, of Woodbury, MN. Grant died unexpectedly on December 10, 2020 at his home.

Grant was born on March 10, 1992 in Stillwater, MN to Bruce and Cindy (Erbst) Leonard. He was the youngest of three children, but known as the most bold and gregarious. He brought much laughter to his family and friends. He followed in his brother’s footsteps by loving the more adventurous sports such as skateboarding and snowboarding, as well as soccer and football. He also enjoyed disc golfing and just being outdoors in the parks. He always had a strength beyond his age, and loved working out at the gym.

Grant attended grade school at Houlton and Trinity Academy, and eventually graduated from Hudson High School. He made friends easily, and many of the friendships he formed as a youth remained throughout his life. Grant started working at Kozy Korner in North Hudson at the ripe young age of 14, and continued all the way through his early 20s. He loved to cook, and learned the skill early on. Grant redirected his passion for cooking to a different field, and in 2018, earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Century College. He then took a position as an HVAC Technician for Total Refrigeration.

Grant loved hard rock music and attended festivals and concerts with his friends. Grant’s spiritual journey took many twists and turns, but the hand of his Savior never let go. He was considered a great friend to so many and it was evident by his great generosity. Many of Grant’s constant friends he met at Christ Recovery Center (CRC) in St. Paul, where he grew in his faith and sobriety, and gained many enduring friendships. Grant’s gentle and tender spirit will remain close to those who shared his journey.

Grant is survived by his parents, Cindy and Bruce Leonard; sister, Laurel (Josh) DuLyn; niece and nephews: Ryker, Rylee, and Rylan DuLyn; maternal grandmother, Shirley Erbst; and paternal grandparents, Warren (Jeanette) Leonard and Rosanne Leonard. He is now reunited with his brother, Alex Leonard and maternal grandfather, Eugene Erbst in Heaven.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11 St. Hudson. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am, and one hour after the service from 12:00-1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred either through the family, or to Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities. Please put Grant Leonard-CRC in the memo and mail any checks to Chuck Semrow, VP of Development, UGMTC, 77 Ninth Street E., St. Paul, MN 55101.
