Harold “Harry” Tyssedal

d. March 4, 2025

Harold “Harry” Tyssedal, 86, formerly of Prescott, WI; passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, in Hudson, WI at Cambridge Sr Living after a long battle with Dementia.
Harry was born on July 17, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI, to Soren and Lucille Tyssedal. He was also blessed with a loving step-mother, Gladys Collison.

Harry married the love of his life, Patricia Huffman, in 1962. They had four children, Sorena, Kimberly, Sonja, and Matthew. Pat and Harry were the kind of parents others wished they had. They played kickball, attended all their children’s concerts, performances, ball games and threw the most memorable outdoor water fight ever known in Wisconsin.

Harry was known for his love of fishing, hunting, ice cream and music. Harry played guitar, accordion, piano and at the age of 80 decided he needed harmonica lessons. His harmonica turned out to be a passion, and he played for family, friends and also in a few concerts. It brought him so much joy to perform with his daughter Kim and with her band.

Harry was proud to have served in the Army shortly after graduation, and would tell stories of boot camp and his time in Korea.

Harry is survived by his four children Sorena Allred (Dan) of Inver Grove Heights , Kim Tarras (Tom) of New Richmond, Sonja Schommer (Dan) of Prescott and Matthew Tyssedal of Prescott; sisters-in-law Nolee Riley, Delette Huffman, Sommi Huffman; brother-in-law Kelly Huffman; and very special nieces, nephews, and friends. Harry was so proud of his eight grandchildren Brionne Aguirre (Bradley), Ashley Farmer (Jamie), Jared Schommer (Chelsey), Alexi Schommer-Thomason (Shawn), Anna Tarras, Casie Riggins (Cody), Aria Tarras and Jenna Allred. He was a loving “Grandpa Great” to twelve great- grandchildren: Aiden, Ella, Sofia, Charlotte, Jacob, Coralee, Kinsley, Croixlynn, Boston, Alora, Cowen and Carter. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents; his brothers Earl, Donald, Russell; sisters Irene, Peggy and Kay; and brother-in-law Mike Huffman.

A small service with interment will be at a later date in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

A special thank you to St. Croix Hospice and BrightStar for providing the extra support and care that was needed. Memorial donations can be made in Harry’s name to St Jude’s Hospital, an Organization he felt quite honored to support.

Cremation and memorial services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Prescott.
