Harry Raymond “Butch” Silvernale, age 66, of St. Paul, MN, travelled to his heavenly home on April 1, 2013. He was born in St. Paul, MN on August 10, 1946. All of his school years were in Hudson where he graduated in 1962. During his high school years, he played on the football and basketball varsity teams. His mom and dad, sister and nephews didn’t miss a game.
After graduation, he began his college career at UW-River Falls and graduated from UW- La Crosse. In the interim, he served four years in the US Navy being stationed at Guam and Pensacola.
He married Barbara Todd in 1971. They lived in La Crosse, WI where Barbara taught and Harry finished his degree while coaching JV basketball. Two sons completed their family – Zachary and Alex.
He found success in the sales field as the family moved to Eau Claire, WI. Harry divorced and moved to St. Paul, MN where he met and married Mary Nicholson. They lived for a summer on a houseboat on the Mississippi River – a dream fulfilled. This marriage also ended in divorce.
He was preceded by his parents, Harry Sr. and Margaret Silvernale. He is survived by his sons, Zachary and his wife Melissa; Alex and his wife Ali and daughter Abigail; a sister Myrna, and her two sons, Art and his wife Brenda and daughter Sarah; Kyle and his wife Holly and their sons Noah and Josiah.
Graveside services with military honors will take place on Monday, June 3, at 12 o’clock in the afternon at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family.
