Helen Jeanne Guter, age 90, of Hudson and former longtime resident of Morris MN, passed away Wednesday evening, July 21, 2010 at Comforts of Home in Hudson.

She was born the daughter of Alfred and Julia (Kirwin) Cairney on July 11, 1920 in Morris, MN. Jeanne grew up there, graduated from high school, and went on to nursing school at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. During WWII, from 1942-44, she served as a nurse in the US Navy . On September 11, 1944 Jeanne was united in marriage to Robert John Guter. They were blessed with five daughters. Jeanne worked as a registered nurse at the Stevens County Memorial Hospital in Morris, for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Jeanne will remain in the hearts of her daughters: Mary (Richard) Verdier of Oriental NC, Sharon Stewart of Lafayette CA, Susan (E. Dennis) Zahrbock of Cumberland WI, Sandra (Curtis) Larson of Hudson WI, and Barbara (Bill) Boyle of Klamath Falls OR; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and extended family.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jeanne at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, MN on Thursday, July 29th. Locally, services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory, 715-386-3725.
