Henry J. “Bud” Lentz

Henry J. “Bud” Lentz, age 84 and life-long resident of the Houlton, WI, area, passed away on February 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry in 1960, and mother, Ordella (Blaha) in 1998. Bud was a member of the Minnesota National Guard for 7 years, attaining the rank of Sgt; he left the National Guard upon his fathers’ death in order to run the farm. He enjoyed the winter activity of indoor small bore rifle shooting competition as a member of the Hudson Rod and Gun Club. He farmed all his life on the family farm in St. Joseph Township. Bud attended school in Stillwater, graduating in 1951. He was one of the original firemen that formed the department in St. Joseph Twp. in 1964; he served for a total of 33 years, which included his tenure as the Chief for 9 years. He was married in 1962 to Marilyn Wegge and later was married to Bernice (Hartzi) Dahlke in 1981. Most people of the area will remember him as the “Lazy L Ranch Egg Man” as he had business and house routes delivering eggs for approximately 50 years. 

Bud is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bernice; children, Paul (Wendy) Lentz, Leah (Tom) Shelton, Peter (Bridget) Lentz; grandchildren, Justin, Carl, Harly, Nicholas, A.J., and Heather; a special step-daughter, Gayle Knight, her children, Luke, Alex and Jake, and step-son, Kevin Dahlke. 

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Family of Christ Church, 285 County Road E, Houlton, WI, followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Memorials are preferred to Family of Christ Lutheran Church.
