Herbert Till

Herbert Morris Till, age 88 of Hudson, Wisconsin and Nokomis, Florida, passed away surrounded by family on January 24, 2021 at his home in Hudson. Herb was born on February 19, 1932 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Herbert D. and Mary (Aspinall) Till.  He graduated from high school at Norwood Collegiate in Winnipeg, and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Manitoba. Herb was united in marriage to Karen Hedin on September 15, 1973 at North Heights Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Herb was blessed with three sons. Herb worked for 38 years with 3M, beginning his career as a Mechanical Engineer. His work at 3M brought Herb and his family to Singapore for two years, and later to Kenya for five years where he served as Managing Director of East Africa. Herb retired in 1996 from 3M.

Herb loved spending time with his family. He possessed a wonderful smile and a positive attitude. Herb was a member of Hudson Daybreak Rotary Club and led the Jaipur Foot Project, a Rotarian program for assisting people in Rwanda to obtain prosthetic limbs. He enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, and gatherings with the “Philosophical Gentlemen” in Hudson. Herb was known to some as “Mr. International” as a result of his worldwide travel and experiences, which included helping a German family escape Communist Germany.

Herb will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife of 47 years, Karen; sons, Larry Till, Doug (Kelly) Till, and Dave (Jen) Till; grandchildren, Audrey, Sawyer, and Sullie; Jake, Dane, and Marlee; other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Morrison; and his first wife, Noreen Clair Hamer.

A memorial service for Herb will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29th at Trinity Lutheran Church – West Campus, 1205 6th St., Hudson, WI. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the church on Friday. Masks and social distancing required. The service will be livestreamed by the funeral home through Zoom, click this link to view the service. Private interment at Willow River Cemetery. Following the service, everyone is invited to Big Guy’s BBQ Roadhouse, food will be available after 5:00 p.m.
