Ivonne F. Dimian

Ivonne Fahmy Dimian

May 10, 1932 – May 17, 2013

Her passing on May 17, 2013 was preceded by a life full of love and grace, creativity and kindness.  Born May 10, 1932 in Zagazig, Egypt she excelled all school subjects, especially fashion and design and she subsequently obtained both bachelors and masters degree from Cairo University in these subject areas.

She was married to Professor Fawzi G. Dimian for 56 years and was the brilliant mother of three devoted children;  eldest daughter Amal (54, husband Mark Toupal), and two sons Adel (51) and Atef (46, wife Joely).  Prior to the birth of their youngest son, they emigrated from Egypt to Seattle, Washington where both Fawzi and Ivonne pursued post-graduate degrees.  Ivonne completed coursework in design at the University of Washington and developed a career in personal fashion and design.  Upon the birth of her youngest son and achieving US citizenship, she devoted herself to a life of care and love for her family.

She was remarkable in all that she put her mind to including her cooking, where her active and creative mind delivereddishes remembered by all.  Those who knew her well were often impressed by her active and creative mind, and those who just met her were long affected by it.

Lovingly known as Eva, she is further survived by six grandchildren:  Jesse (30), Adele Faye (27), Alexandra (17), Alysse (16), Joseph (10), and Elizabeth (9).  She is further survived by brothers, Fouad and Atef; and sister, Salwa.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to:  The Ivonne F. Dimian Art and Fashion Design Scholarship Fund; 1563-14th Avenue NW; St. Paul,  MN  55112.
