Jack Hamilton Martin, age 55, of Hudson, passed away suddenly after a recent cancer diagnosis, on May 16, 2011 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was born the son of Jack and Patricia (Brooker) Martin on January 27, 1956 in St. Paul, MN. He grew up in Hudson, graduating in the class of 1974. He went on to attend UW River Falls and UW Stevens Point. On September 6, 1980, Jack was united in marriage to Mary J. Schultz at the United Methodist Church in Hudson. They were blessed with three children: Jack “Jake”, Benjamin, and Rachel.

Jack was a carpenter by trade, and spent many years working as an assembler at Andersen Windows. He also enjoyed working on their family home, upgrading it with his handyman skills. Jack was a Hudson Booster for over 20 years, and a charter member of the Lion’s Club in Seeley, WI. He helped build the Kortolopet timing building and warming hut in the Seeley area. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially pheasant hunting, fishing, canoeing and golfing. Jack will be remembered as a true friend to so many; he was the one who would always be there to lend a hand.

Jack will remain in the hearts of his wife of 30 years, Mary; children, Jake (Anna) Martin, Ben Martin, and Rachel Martin (George San Martin); grandchildren, Rylee and Rhiannon; siblings: Jana Martin (David Fredrickson) of Hudson WI, Cinders (Steve) Pogalz of Hudson WI, Dan (Jenni) Martin of Woodbury MN, and Tenley (Chris) Oberhaus of Scottsdale AZ; parents-in-law, Barb & Willard Schultz of Hudson; siblings-in-law: Bob (Jean) Schultz of Stevens Point WI, Tom (Carol) Schultz of Prior Lake MN, Pete (Holly) Schultz of Hudson WI, and Laura (Craig) Blichfeldt of Coon Rapids MN; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Patricia and an infant sister, Pamela.

A funeral service will be held for Jack at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 502 Cty Rd UU, Hudson. Interment will follow in the Willow River Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, May 23 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, 715-386-3725.
