Jack Scobey

Lloyd John “Jack” Scobey was born on July 20 ^th 1934 to Lloyd and Jeanette Scobey in Deer Park, Wisconsin. Jack went to school at Deer Park, WI for 8 years and then  Amery, WI High School for 4 years. After school, Jack went to work for the county driving truck for a short time, then he went over to St. Paul and went to work for Ford Motor for 30 years.

Jack was in the 132 ^nd National Guard. He was in active duty at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Jack was united in marriage to Ann Garske on November 30, 1957. They were blessed with 8 children Becky (Keith) Bevers, Louann (Dale) Pechacek, Perry (Karen) Scobey, Joan Klatt, Wayne Scobey, Amy (Jerry–deceased) Laatsch, Julie Solfest, Gary (Jody) Scobey. They had 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Jack had 2 sisters, Janet (Steve) Johnson and Mary (Leigh–deceased) Livermore.

Jack was preceded in death by his stillborn daughter Emily, his father and mother, and his sister Janet.

The family moved to Hudson, WI in September of 1959 where they lived the rest of their lives. They were members of St. Patrick Church. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

After Jack retired from 30 years at the Ford Plant in St. Paul, they spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Jack also got into old cars, he loved to work on them. He had a 1956 Crown Victoria that he kept in top shape and a 1928 Model A, that he got out of the woods in Northern Minnesota. He spent many years looking for the right parts so he could get it back to new. It was a lot of hard work but it turned out great! After he got a little older and it got harder for him to work on big cars, he turned to Cushman Scooters. He would get old Cushmans and take them apart and fix them up so when he was done, they looked like new.

Some of the great grandkids called him Grandpa Tractor. He would always give them tractor rides when they came and he would give them a dollar when they went home.

He was a well-liked man. Not very often did he get upset about anything or at anyone. He had a great sense of humor. He always had a joke to tell.

He will be missed by all.

Visitation 4-8 PM Friday, February 2, at O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 S. 11 ^th St. Hudson. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 3, at 12 pm with visitation 11-12 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine  Street, Hudson, Wisconsin.
