James Fredrick “Jim” Hanson

James Fredrick “Jim” Hanson, age 74, of Maiden Rock, WI, formerly of Maple Plain, MN. Born January 14, 1945, and died on January 2, 2020, of prostate cancer. Jim was a proud member of the Carleton College, class of 1967, and established meaningful relationships with many of his fellow alumni that persisted throughout his lifetime. He was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, ardent MPR listener, motorcycle aficionado and photography enthusiast. Lifelong animal lover, including surviving pets Penny and ‘Migo. He also recently marked 35 years of sobriety. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Viste; mother, Ethel Pick Hanson; father, Fred Bullman; stepfather, Donald Hanson; and uncle, Vernon Pick. Survived by daughters, Jennifer Hanson (Matt Thell) and Lindsay (Nicholas) Grady; cousin, Fred (Pat) Pick; close friends, Roger Forsberg, John Grigg, and Dick and Donna Luther; and the Maiden Rock community including Vangie Wilder, Wally Zick, and others to whom his family is grateful for their care and support.
