James H. ‘Jim’ Rettner

James H. “Jim” Rettner, age 61 of Baldwin and River Falls, died on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at United Hospital in Saint Paul MN. Jim was born December 14, 1954 in Saint Paul to parents  Lawrence and Helen (nee Hofstetter) Rettner. Jim was a graduate of Harding High School. Jim attended Tech College for auto body repair, but found his calling on the open road driving truck. Jim was currently working for Walbon & Company.

Jim was fun-loving, and always having fun! He was the best dad to his children, or for anyone else who needed him, and was known affectionately to many as “Old Man”. He loved sausage & mushroom pizza from Carbone’s, eating popcorn, his family of stuffed skunks, and tickling feet. Jim was a dependable, hard working man who enjoyed his down time relaxing, and spent with family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Kayla Rettner (Justin Smith), mother to Kayla and good friend, Tracy Connell; daughters, Justina Connell and Tanya Lee; son Eric Osiecki; grandchildren, Misty and Trevor; siblings Tom, Dave, Joe, Carol, Jane, Barb, Joanne, and Mary; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and best friend Bruce Whaley.

Mass of Christian Burial for James Rettner will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1265 Ridgeway in Hammond WI, with Rev. Fr. Jerry Harris officiating. Burial will take place at the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hr prior to mass at the church, and also from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street in Baldwin. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI. 715-684-3434
