James ‘Jim’ Minogue

James Robert Minogue, age 73 of Hudson, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his residence. Jim was born on May 27, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Burnette (Monson) Minogue. He was raised in St. Paul, attending Hancock Elementary prior to graduating from Cretin High School in 1960. Following high school, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He returned and later married his best friend Maureen Murphy on May 15, 1965 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in St. Paul. They raised four children. They lived in Cottage Grove before moving to Hudson nearly fifteen years ago. Jim had a long and rewarding career with 3M. He began working as a sales representative before retiring after 34 years in customer service.

Jim loved his family and friends. He loved golfing area courses, but especially loved the beauty of White Eagle, New Richmond, and Clifton Highlands. He was an avid reader who enjoyed all books especially the history of the civil war or the old west. He was a huge sports supporter, whether Viking football, Joe Mauer and the Twins, or even NASCAR. He took pleasure in the challenge of a game of cribbage and dice, or trying his hand at billiards, usually with a little money involved. Jim had fond memories of their travels. Jim and Maureen had trips to various countries and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage in Europe. But some of his greatest memories came from renting an RV and taking the whole family out west to Colorado and California.

Jim will remain in the hearts of his wife Maureen; children, Betsy (Ray) Gadbois of Cottage Grove, Mark Minogue of Edina, John (Kim) Minogue of St. Paul Park, and Peter (Barb) Minogue of Cottage Grove; nine grandchildren: Brad (Kaley), Abbey, Corey, Matthew (Tiffany), Amanda (Adam), Shane, Nate, Allie, and Sam; great-grandchildren: Lee, Mitchell, Justin, Mason, Logan, and Jackson; siblings, Michael (Dee) Minogue of Shoreview, Dan Minogue of Spooner, and Carol Minogue of St. Paul; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be from 4pm to 6pm, Wednesday (Veterans’ Day) November 11 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S 11th Street, Hudson, WI. Private interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
