James Leroy “Jim” Fleming of Prescott WI, died on Thursday evening, August 29, 2019 at his residence. He was 92. Jim was born August 25, 1927 in Eau Galle Township of Dunn County, Wisconsin to parents Edward H. and Lilly Mae (Weitz) Fleming. He attended schools in Maiden Rock, and graduated from Maiden Rock High School. He would serve his country in the United States Navy. Jim was united in marriage to Marilyn Marie Hetrick on July 17, 1954 in Stockholm WI. Their union in marriage was blessed with five children, Jim, Tom, David, Dan, and Rhonda.

Jim worked for over 50 years as a Port Engineer with Twin City Barge & Towing, Twin City Shipyard, and Upper River Services. In July of 1993, Jim had the honor of having the tugboat, “Viking,” re-named to the “J. L. Fleming.” Jim was known as the guy who could fix nearly anything for anyone. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan, who enjoyed hunting, and fishing, both commercially and recreationally, and hill climbing with his Jeep. Jim also enjoyed picking hickory nuts, and harvesting horseradish and asparagus.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; his children, Jim (Tania), Tom (Karen), David (Lisa), Dan, and Rhonda (John) Serres; grandchildren, Jesse (Nicole), Jeremy (Nicole), Joshua (Rachael), Jacob (Kandis), David (Michelle), Shelly, Michael, Peter (Kim), A.J. (Lindsay), and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Tessa, Jaylen, Jaycee, Jericho, Braelyn, Axel, Cody, Kaylee, Logen, Chase, Taylor, Alexis, Emma, Jack, Luke, Ronnie, and Rylee; as well as other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Harold, Bill, Lorene, Beatrice, and Anna Mae.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, September 3rd at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center, 1449 Orrin Road in Prescott WI. Memorials honoring James L.
