James Robert Johnson

James Robert Johnson age 89 of Hudson, WI passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2024 surrounded by his family.

He was born May 13, 1935 in River Falls, WI the son of Emil C. Johnson and Agnes J. (Kirschner) Johnson. James grew up on a farm outside of Hudson. In 1953 he graduated from the Hudson High School.

On May 29, 1954 James was united in marriage to Mary Ann Judkins at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Stillwater, MN. They raised their eight children at a home in Hudson.

James was a life- long woodworker. For 25 years he was employed at St. Croix Manufacturing in Bayport, MN, and for more than 25 years he was employed at Lake Elmo Hardwoods.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and gun collecting. James had an interest in collecting old tractors, antique gas engines he even had a steam engine.

Preceding him in death were a son Randall Scott; 3 brothers; a sister; and a daughter-in-law Kathleen Marie Johnson.

James is survived by his wife of 70 yrs. Mary Ann; 7 children Diane (Ken) Seeberger, Michael (Debbie), Ronald (Kathy), Andrew R, Chris W., Shari (Dave) Jacoby, and Rebecca A. (Steven) Krause; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday, December 18, 2024 with visitation 10 AM to 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hudson, WI. Interment church cemetery.
