James S. “Jim” Flanigan

James Scott “Jim” Flanigan, age 55 of Ellsworth WI, died on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul MN after a sudden and unexpected illness. Jim was born May 28, 1963 in LaCrosse WI, one of sixteen children born to parents John F. and Jean L. (Erickson) Flanigan. Jim graduated from Sabeka (MN) High School with the Class of 1981. Jim was united in marriage to Rhonda Williams on June 29, 1990. Their union in marriage was blessed with four children: Jenna, Blake, Jared, and Connor.

Work brought Jim to many places and rewarded him with many experiences through the years. Growing up, he farmed with his parents. In later years, he worked at Friday Canning Company, Red Wing Shoe, and the Ford Motor Company. Jim also owned his own farm and dairy herd, and farming held a special place in his heart. Jim loved to deer hunt, had a great sense of humor, was helpful to others, and was the kind of teacher who would gladly share all he knew. Jim enjoyed shopping trips to Fleet Farm, and being true to who he was. He cherished time spent with his family, and will be remembered as a loving husband, and a caring and devoted father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda; his daughter, Jenna Flanigan (Chris); his sons, Jared and Connor; his grandchildren, Addison and Sawyer; along with numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews; parents-in-law, Marilyn (Bufford) Kurrelmeyer; and his Lab, Wilson. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Blake; his parents; and sister-in-law, Brenda (Kelly) Gove.
