Janet was born on January 17, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Eldon and Ruth (Guiswite) Solsvig. She attended grade school in North Hudson, and graduated from Hudson High School in 1951.

Upon her graduation, she began working at NorLake as a secretary. She also worked for Tom and Clark O’Connell’s Taxi Company, and then worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Petroleum Inspection Department as a receptionist.

On September 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to Roy Laatsch at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Marilyn, Mark, Nancy, and David. In 1979, Janet and Roy and their children moved to Dunedin, FL for Roy’s job. For many years, she was an Administrative Assistant for the Public Works Department for the City of Clearwater, Florida.

Janet enjoyed playing the piano, taking family pictures, growing orchids and playing Mahjong with her friends.  She also loved to travel.  A few of her favorite travels included the North Shore on Lake Superior and Honeymoon Island State Park in Florida, where she enjoyed being on the beach.
