Janice Dagmar Cruz “Jan”

August 11, 1940 – November 10, 2024

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 10, 2024. Preceded in death by her husband Jose; parents Hans and Edith Haag; brother Kenneth and sister Grace Potter. Survived by children Curtis (Denise), Christine Olson (Eric), Jodi Utech (Chris) and Step Son Joseph Irber; grandchildren Andrea Irber, Jennifer Sanders (Aaron), Rachel Schettler (Brandon), Jacqueline Rangel (Greg), Cole Cruz, Anthony Deziel, Joshua Deziel (Taylor), Marco Barton (Katie), Frank Barton, Tristan Utech, Lizzy Irber and honorary grandson Colin Zellner (Mattie); many beloved great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jan was born August 11, 1940 in St. Paul’s East Side. She was an accomplished artist and singer who loved 1950’s music. She worked at United Hospital, as a physical therapy aid, where she was skilled at supporting patients and pouring out love and compassion. Jan was also blessed with 70 years of friendship with her two beloved friends Patty Rameriz and Dee Dee Ekwall. She made her mark on the community through her kindness, generosity, glamorous smile, quick sense of humor and most importantly, her love for the stranger, broken hearted and those who were rejected by others. Jan exemplified the love of Jesus Christ as she demonstrated this agape love. While she will be greatly missed, the impact of her love will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St. Hudson, WI from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. There will be a private interment.
