Janice Haaland

Janice Eloise Barragan Haaland, age 81, of Hudson, Wisconsin, formerly of Fridley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Hudson Hospital. Janice was born February 7, 1940 in Eagleville, Missouri to Virgil and Vada (Fish) Kinder. She relocated with her parents to Iowa, and graduated from Mason City High School in 1958. She attended cosmetology school and went on to hold license in Iowa, Texas and Minnesota. Janice was previously married to C.R. Barragan; the couple was blessed with three children, Anthony (Tony), Paul (still goes by Paul), and Michele (Shelly). Janice (Mom) was adept in transforming a house to a home. She loved taking care of her family and modeled selflessness and unconditional love for her children. Janice was a strong Christian and her faithfulness and love for the Lord was passed along to her family. She enjoyed cooking meals for family gatherings and was happy just sitting back and savoring the moments of laughter and joy resulting from everyone being together. Janice treasured these times, and cherished each opportunity spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in life, Janice married Ronald Haaland of New Richmond.

Janice will remain in the hearts of all who deeply loved her; This love fuels her legacy living on through her children, Paul (Beth) Barragan of Paducah, KY, and Michele (Ronald “Jim”) Birch of Hudson; father to her children, C. R. (Noel) Barragan of Mounds View, MN; grandchildren, Brittany (Matt) Meneau of Blaine, MN, Alexandra “Ali” Barragan (Kyle Provos) of St. Michael, MN; Michael (Tiffany) Barragan of Mesa, AZ, Brenna Barragan of Paducah, KY, Shannon Vargas (Augustine Vargas) of St. Louis, MO; Stephen (Sarah) Barragan of St. Louis, MO, James Barragan and Elizabeth Barragan of Paducah, KY; Ashley Frost of New Richmond, WI, Crysta Cadalbert of Minneapolis, MN, Skylar Frost of Mahtomedi, MN, and Shayne Frost of Minneapolis, MN; great-grandchildren, Issac, Neve, Liam, Avi, Nora, Sutton, Ava, Rylan, Everly, Oaklyn, Ella, Cash, Remmy, and one more on the way! She is preceded in death by her loving son, Anthony Barragan this past July; an unborn child in April of 1959, and her parents, Virgil and Vada Kinder.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI.
