Jean Ostertag, age 60, of North Hudson, WI, died Friday, October 21, 2011, at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Jean was born on June 18, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska, to William and Eleanor (Shubert) Stoltenberg.  She attended Nebraska Country School and graduated from North High School in Omaha.  Jean earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology at Dana College, and worked at Credit Service International in Minneapolis, MN. On January 13, 1979, she married Eugene “Gene” Ostertag at Augustana Lutheran Church in West St. Paul. This union was blessed with two children. 

Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed cats, four-wheeling at Shell Lake, baking muffins and pies, playing the piano and playing cribbage.  Jean is remembered for being a giver, not a taker, and was always smiling and ready to listen to others.  Jean was also known for her proper grammar and use of the English language.

Jean is survived by her husband, Gene; son, Matthew (Jen) Ostertag of Somerset, WI; daughter, Kathleen Ostertag of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Madison and Nathan Ostertag; brother, Charles (Charon) Stoltenberg of Omaha, NE; and sister, Carol Stoltenberg of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eleanor.

Funeral Services for Jean Ostertag will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 Third Street in Hudson, WI with Pastor Dennis Nelson officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00PM on Tuesday at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, and one hour prior to services at church.
