Jeff Eggers

Jeffrey Lee Eggers, age 59 of Saint Cloud MN, formerly of North Hudson WI, died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 in Saint Cloud. Jeff was born June 8, 1952 in Emporia KS to parents Lee Roy and Phyllis Marguerite (Olson) Eggers. Jeff was a graduate of Hudson High School, and served as a Sgt. in the US Army, where he trained with the Airborne and earned his Parachutist Badge.

After the military, Jeff attended college at UW-River Falls, but really found himself as a carpenter and woodworker. He worked for Sunrise Woodcraft Furniture and Chandler Exhibits, as well as various local contractors over the years. He did excellent work using his craftsmanship and skills, and his loved ones even have furniture still today that he made for them decades ago. Jeff also liked to cook and bake, and tend to his vegetable garden, where he loved to grow hot peppers. He was a devoted reader, and when he wasn’t getting lost in good books at the library, Jeff could be found hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors; a fondness he grew to appreciate from time spent as a child with his grandpa Reuben. Jeff could be found biking around town on his prized Rolling Rock bike he won at a raffle. Jeff knew many people and enjoyed socializing with friends. Jeff liked to collect old things, like old woodworking tools, or just about anything nostalgic. He also had a soft spot in his heart for his dog Rocky, and a host of cats, of which Tigger and Big Mac were among his favorites.

Jeff is survived by his brother, Mike Eggers of North Hudson; his sisters, Heidi (Steve) Robbins of North Hudson, and Lisa (Dave) Casperson of Fair Grove MO; five nieces and nephews, Scott, Andy, Beth, Cory, and Jake; his aunts, Kathy Warthan and Carol Ann Olson; five great-nieces and great-nephews; along with many cousins and friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Phyllis Eggers; and his grandparents, Reuben and Irene Johnson, and Harry and Sylva Olson.

A Memorial Service for Jeffrey Eggers will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday, October 29th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th Street South in Hudson. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00PM. Arrangements are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson WI, and the Countryside Crematory. 715-386-3725
