Jerald Reichert

Jerald “Jerry” Reichert, age 93, of Prescott, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on November 18, 2020.

Jerry was born on June 26, 1927 in Prescott, Wisconsin to John and Blanche (Northup) Reichert.  He was a lifelong resident of Prescott.

Jerry was a graduate of Prescott High School.  He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, Rasmussen Business College, and was a graduate of the Wisconsin School of Banking.

On September 8, 1951, Jerry was united in marriage to Colleen Keller at the English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. To this union two children were born, Jill Anne and Jack Arthur.

Jerry was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He was a member of the Prescott American Legion Post 61 and Pierce County VFW Post 9060. Jerry was an avid baseball fan. He maintained statistics for the Prescott High School team for several years, as well as playing on the town baseball team back in the fifties. He was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan.

After being discharged from the Army, Jerry was employed at the Bank of Ellsworth in Prescott (now BMO Harris), where he became Vice President and Manager.  He then became President and Administrator of St. Croixdale Hospital until it was sold to Psychiatric Institutes of America.  He was Business Manager of the Prescott Nursing Home from its inception until his retirement in October 1991.

Jerry and Colleen enjoyed traveling. During vacations they visited most of the states, including the Hawaiian Islands. They also traveled to Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean Islands.  After retirement, they were fortunate to spend winter months for nineteen years in Florida or California.  His preference was California, where they attended many of Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and Dinah Shore celebrity golf tournaments, including the tournament in which four US Presidents played.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Colleen; son, Jack (Karla) Reichert; sister, Arlene Russell; grandchildren:  Chad Ngcheed, Jenny Wollan, Jeremiah Reichert, Megan Reichert, Melissa Reichert, Brianna Morillon, and Emily Reichert; as well as great-grandchildren:  Angelina, Ashton, and Amelia Wollan, Brody Ngcheed, Will and Jack Reichert, Addison and Austin Morillon, and Anai Baez.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Blanche Reichert; daughter, Jill Ngcheed; sisters, Doris Becker, Marjorie Meacham and Marie James; brothers, Arthur, Lynn and Wayne.

A Visitation (Masks required, social distancing, and occupancy limitations will apply) will take place 4:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, November 30, 2020 at O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home, 1339 Orrin Rd., Prescott. A Private Family Service will be held at the Prescott United Church of Christ, with Rev. Lisa Bodenheim officiating. Interment with military honors presented by the Prescott American Legion will be held at 11:45 AM Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott. Jerry’s grandchildren have the honor as casket bearers.
