Jerome D. Dunaski

Jerome “Jerry” D. Dunaski, former principal of the Hudson Junior High School, age 80, of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2012 in St.Paul, Minnesota. Jerome was born March 11th, 1932 in Willow River Minnesota, and grew up in St. Paul, MN.  He was the second son of Albert Dunaski and Odelia (Tootsie) Prohofsky. He is survived by his wife Darlene Dunaski and brother Robert Dunaski; daughters Kathleen (Mike) Ferguson Quinn, Karen (Jeff) Fagundes, and Angela Allington, Sons Jeff Williams, Mark (Amanda) Williams; grandchildren Genevieve (Philip) Leavitt, Ashley and Jessica Williams, Blake Allington, Ian Williams and Nick, Caitlyn, Tim (Julie), Molly, and Dan Quinn and great-granddaughter, Isla.

    Upon graduating from Harding High School Jerry felt the call to duty; he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War.  Later, with the assistance of the GI Bill, he received an undergraduate degree from the College of St. Thomas, and a Graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. 

    Jerry spent the majority of his career in the Hudson School District, first as a teacher, then eventually securing the position as Principal of the Junior High and Middle School.  He was devoted to his students and loved his staff dearly.  His tenure in education spanned more then 32 years.

    During his retirement he devoted himself to his family, friends, and his lawn.  He loved to spend time with his wife cultivating their garden and relaxing in the pool.

     A funeral mass for Jerry will be held at 10am on Wednesday, September 19 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Hudson, Wisconsin.  Burial will follow the services at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Visitation for Jerry will be held for 1 hour prior to services at the church as well as from 4-7pm on Tuesday, September 18 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home.  Memorials given will be donated in Jerry’s name to an educational scholarship through the Hudson School District.  Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Hudson chapel.  715.386.3725
