Jerome Dockendorf

Jerome Arthur “Jerry” Dockendorf, age 61 of Prescott, passed away peacefully at his home on May 11, 2019. Jerry was born December 31, 1957 in Bloomington, MN, to Elmer and Luverne (Carter) Dockendorf. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Bloomington, the Class of 1976. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a hard worker, working in construction for most of his life. Jerry was united in marriage to Debbie Renee Stacy on December 30, 1988. Their life together was blessed with two children, Michael and Melindy.

Family was everything to Jerry. He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jerry and Deb shared many special memories traveling and vacationing together. He loved muscle cars, rebuilding his own cars, and attending car shows. Jerry was a handy man, and meticulously kept up his lawn and home. He enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Jerry will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Deb; his children, Michael (Diane) Hauser, and Melindy (Joshua) Court; his cherished grandchildren: Henry, Nathan, Hailey, Pearl, Cameron, and Chase; grandson at heart, P.J.; his father, Elmer (Marlene) Dockendorf; sisters, Patti (Brian) Thorson, Judy (Jim) Rowland, and Connie Dockendorf (Jim); special friends, Herald “Chris” Christianson and Jeremy Lorenz; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Luverne; his grandparents; aunts, and uncles.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place 5:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 1339 Orrin Rd., Prescott, and one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 901 East 90th St., Bloomington, MN. Interment with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Jerry’s family gives a special thank you to Linda Pearson.
