Jerry Colburn, age 82 of Hudson, formerly of Afton, died March 31st when his heart finally rested. Jerry was born on April 20, 1933 in St. Paul, the son of Harry and Augusta Colburn. He attended elementary school in St. Paul prior to graduating from Turtle Lake High School. He would further his education at St. Paul Votech where he received his training as an architect. He enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1954, he was united in marriage to Melva Bies. He enjoyed fishing and had a strong love for building things for his family. He treasured family and had bounteous love for his wife Melva; children Lynn (Dave Hohler) Colburn, Craig Colburn, Jay (Andrea) Colburn, Lori (Bob) Callahan, Jana (Joe) Eichten, Jerry (Diana) Colburn; 15 grandchildren Amy, Stacey, Kim, Angela, Anthony, Abby, Andrew, Bobby, Ben, Jacob, Jamie, Nick, Danny, Shane, Ryan; and 14 great grandchildren. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters.
A Memorial service for Jerry will be 12pm Noon Saturday April 9th at Memorial Lutheran Church, 15730 Afton Blvd So. in Afton. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at church. Interment with full military honors will be in the church cemetery. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to the Memorial Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
