Jim L. Brantner

James L. Brantner, age 93 of Prescott, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Spring Valley Health and Rehab Center.

Jim was born on July 24, 1931 on the home farm in rural Durand. He was the son of Leopold and Marie “Mary” (Anibas) Brantner Jr. Jim attended the Oak Hill Country School in rural Durand. After school, Jim worked at various farms around Durand before moving to Minneapolis, MN. On September 2, 1954, Jim married Connie M. Doughty at the Methodist Church in Arkansaw, WI. Their union was blessed with two sons, Randy and Terry.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1961. After returning home, Jim and Connie lived a short time in Minneapolis, before building a home in Prescott.

Jim was part owner of the Denesen Company, a vinyl window and door manufacturing plant in Minneapolis, for many years before selling the company. He then worked at the University of River Falls working with the grounds department. At the University, he really enjoyed working with the Kansas City Chiefs when they came to the University for training camp. Outside of work, Jim enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, hunting, fishing and going up North. He really cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his sons, Randy (Lori) Brantner and Terry (Sue) Brantner; grandchildren Cory (Christina) Brantner, Cady Brantner, Kasey (Cameron) McCann; great grandchildren Zachery, Vivian, Riyu, Austin, Sienna, Savannah; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his wife Connie, his parents, siblings Clare (Geraldine) Brantner, Bernard (Irma) Brantner and Betty (Bill) Webb.

In honoring Jim’s wishes the family will hold a private family burial with Military Honors at the Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
