It is with great sorrow and deep reverence that we announce the passing of Joan Helene Vesley, age 83, of Hudson, Wisconsin, who departed this life on January 29, 2025. Born on January 9, 1942, in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, Joan lived a life marked by compassion, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family.

Joan held a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in social work and worked at the Diocese of Green Bay, before she married George F. Vesley in June 1965. She was renowned for her caring nature and was often described as the “nicest person” in her nursing home, embodying the essence of a gentle and loving spirit.

A devoted wife to her beloved husband, George, Joan was the proud mother of four children: Caroline, Sue, George and Katie. She found immense joy in her role as a mother and grandmother, nurturing her family with love, warmth, and preparing meals for family gatherings. Joan was an avid reader, holding a rich vocabulary that reflected her passion for literature. Her beautiful singing voice brought light and joy to many occasions.

Throughout her life, Joan and her family made their home in various cities including Pasadena, California; Dearborn, Michigan; Grand Forks, North Dakota; and Hudson, Wisconsin, where they settled in 1973. Joan loved to travel with her husband George, taking memorable trips to Europe, where they explored the picturesque landscapes of England, Germany, and Italy. Additionally, she cherished her experiences in Hawaii and enjoyed many memorable road trips, including visits to their vacation home in Arizona along with journeys to Virginia, Ohio, and Washington state.

Joan is survived by her husband George; children Caroline (Jerry) Wolf, Sue (Ross) DeMeyere, George C. Vesley, Katie (Adam) Pederson; grandchildren Mitchell and Ian Wolf, Zachary and Erik DeMeyere, Victoria Vesley, Caleb and Mara Pederson; brother Tom (Carla) Spice; niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Lee (Tom) Witthun.

In celebration of her life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine Street, Hudson. Prior to the mass, visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, allowing family and friends to gather to honor Joan’s legacy. Following mass, lunch will be served at the church. Burial ceremony will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Joan’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the honor of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joan’s name to the St. Patrick Catholic School in Hudson. Her memory will forever resonate as a beacon of love and kindness.
