John Arthur Gies, age 67, of Hudson, WI passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2014.
John was born on March 29, 1946 in St. Paul, MN to George and Jean (Dorwin) Gies. He graduated from Hudson High School and attended University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
On June 7, 1969, John was married to Pearl Marie Anderson in Hudson, WI. Their marriage would be blessed with one son, Chris.
John was a life-long resident of Hudson, living on his family farm for his entire life. In addition to being a dairy farmer, he also worked at 3M and Fleet Farm. However, the job he loved the most was being a husband, father, and grandfather. His family and friends meant the world to him, and he always took the time to express how much he cared for them.
He was happiest at home tending to his many gardens and spending time outdoors in his straw hat. He was always on the move, never sitting down to take a break. He was an avid list maker, always keeping himself and others organized.
John was a man of few words, but had deep feelings and care towards everyone who knew him. He was a humble and quiet person, and anyone who spent time with him appreciated his gentle and kind nature. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife, Pearl; son, Chris (Aimee) Gies; and granddaughters, Lily and Greta. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean and George; sisters, Georgia and Linda; and granddaughter, Anya.
