John Allen Howard, Sr

John Allen Howard, Sr., age 89, of River Falls, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his home.

John was born on May 9, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH the son of John and Margaret (Jenkins) Howard. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during both WWII and the Korean War.
John married Anna Marie Larson on March 29, 1947 in Santa Ana, CA. He worked in law enforcement for many years for both the River Falls Police Dept. and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Dept. before going to work for 3M. He retired from 3M after 25 years of service.
He enjoyed working his with hands, especially building fishing rods and making scrolls. John also loved the comradery of hunting and fishing with his friends.

He was a member of the River Falls Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge #109, Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire, and Zor and Osman Shrine Temples, Madison, WI and Minneapolis, MN respectively. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters, River Falls Moose Lodge, Fletcher-Pechacek American Legion Post #121, River Falls and St. Bridget Catholic Church.

John is survived by his four children: John (Lana) Howard, Jr., Jayne (Jack) Longsdorf,
Kevin (Brenda) Howard, and Marguerite Parson.

Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Marie, infant son Charles Edward Howard, grandson Charles Joseph Howard and his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00pm, Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls, WI. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Thursday at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, where there will be a 7:00pm Masonic Service. There will also be an hour of visitation prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.

Full military honors will be provided by the veteran’s organizations of River Falls, WI.
