John C Buss, age 54, of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away on January 8, 2025, after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. His grandson, Ezra, was born 6 weeks after his diagnosis. Ezra brought so much joy and purpose to John’s last 2 years. John was a meticulous worker, who held himself to a standard of perfection.  He was a traditional father, who cheered his boys on the sidelines of every game. His greatest role was that of being Ezra’s Grandpa. They shared a love of being outdoors, reading and playing for hours building Legos and playing ball.  Throughout his cancer battle he was brave and hopeful and always grateful for his time with his family.

John was born to Chet and Arlene Buss, on 12/30/1970, in Huron, SD. He graduated from Huron High School class of 1989. He served a short time in the Navy. He then went on to study at Lake Area Technical College.  John was employed by Pro-Tec Design as Lead Technician and he was General Foreman with the Local 110 IBEW Union.  His team at Pro-Tec did so much to help John in the past 2 years, providing rides to lab appointments, doing yard work and visiting John in the hospital. His family will be forever grateful for their support.

John is survived by his children, Adam and Steven and his grandson, Ezra. He leaves behind an understanding that family is everything. Our family memories are of endless hikes, bon fires, and movie nights with so many off the cuff one liners that no one watched the movie.  Our family gives special thanks for the compassionate care that John received at Westfield Hospital and Lakeview Hospice.  Because of their care, we were able to honor John’s final wish of being able to pass away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

A memorial service is being planned at O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson, WI. This will be updated when arrangements are completed.
