John E. Jansen Jr.

John Edward Jansen Jr. of Lake St. Croix Beach born Dec 7, 1933, died July 19, 2013.

Preceded in death by his parents J.E. Jansen Sr., Rachael Keating Jansen, wife Alice Kelley Jansen.

Survived and deeply missed by his lovingly devoted wife Katy Cartoney Jansen, Son: Dan Kelley (Christa), Grandchildren: Ashley, Ryan, Brittney, Josh, Sisters: Rachael Jansen Schwendig (Walter), Helen Jansen Talle (Mrs. C.A.)  Nieces: Barbara, Deborah, Teresa (Paul), Trude. Great nieces & nephews: Kris, Joe, Mar, Amber.

John graduated from St. Thomas Academy High School, St. Thomas College and William Mitchell College of Law.  He worked in private practice, was Washington County Attorney and Workers Compensation Judge with the State of Minnesota.

John started his military career as a Private in JROTC and retired after 32 years in the Army Reserves as lieutenant Colonel and Commander of 4077 Civil Affairs Unit.

John volunteered with the local government and served as a member of the City Council, was Mayor of Lake St. Croix Beach for over 20 years. He was an active volunteer for the St. Croix River Association.  John was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church all of his adult life and volunteered as an usher, Chairman of School of Religion, lector, and Secretary of Parish Council.

John enjoyed time with family, a good conversation, reading, swimming and boating.

Mass of Christian will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 16770 13th St. S., Lake St. Croix Beach, with a gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior.  Interment with military honors will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Memorials are preferred to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
