John F. Dennison

John Frederick Dennison, age 83 of Woodbury, MN, formerly of Hudson, WI and Clintonville, WI, passed away sudden and unexpectedly May 1, 2013 at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury.  John was born December 17, 1929 in Bear Creek, WI; the son of Earl and Clara (Hedtke) Dennison.  John graduated from Clintonville High School, the class of 1947.  He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, obtaining a degree in a political science.  John proudly served his country as a 2nd Lt. in the US Marines Corp during the Korean War. He was united in marriage on August 19, 1978 in Cleveland Ohio to Florence Herbert.  They were blessed with 4 sons and 2 daughters.  John worked as a Regional Manager in Cleveland and St. Paul For Mutual of New York until he retired in 1989.  He was responsible for a multi-state region for the company.  

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, painting, and of course his love for the Packers.  He loved playing cards, in fact started each day with a game of cribbage with Florence.  He was a man of strong faith and cherished his time with his family.  He would proudly say the three most important things in life were: God, family and work ethic.

John will forever remain in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife, Florence; children, John (Karen) Dennison, Bruce (Danielle) Dennison, Debbie (Tim) Schultz Dennison, Scott (Linda) Dennison, Gary (Amy) Dennison, Wendy (Franck) Kakou Baker, 16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his brother, Tom Dennison; sister, Mary Colassacco; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Blaisdell Dennison in 1989; his brothers, Robert and James Dennison; parents, Earl and Clara Dennison.

A Celebration of John’s Life will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1205 Sixth St., Hudson, WI, with Pastor Tim Booth officiating.  A visitation will take place 5:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2013 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson and one hour prior to the service Saturday at church.  John’s military service to his country will be honored after the funeral services Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will take place 1:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville, WI.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be John’s grandchildren:  Eric Dennison, Jonathan Dennison, Sondra Cari, Andrea Jessup, Trevor Jessup, Trace Jessup, Emily Meyer, Haley Dennison, Lucy Dennison, Charlotte Dennison and Alexander Kakou.  Memorials are preferred with donations to the Arthritis Foundation. Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson (715) 386-3725.
